Blood Feud
As to the latter-day manifestation of the Ishmael/Isaac – Moses/Mohammed controversy, I understand the perspective of those around the world who favor and advocate what they regard as practical remedies to the bitter enmity that currently prevails:
Two-State Solution
Pre-1967 Borders
Other passionate issues are also widely discussed:
Jerusalem
Al Aqsa Mosque or Third Temple?
Nakba
From the River to the Sea
The divisions of these questions are broad and deep. They are, in my estimation, intractable.
For the principals in this conflict, it is a Blood Feud.
21st century genetic arguments aside, it is perceived by its disciples as an existential blood feud. And their devout sense of identity is inviolable.
Therefore the various loci of power in the region will — if not now, then sooner than later — coalesce into two dueling actors, both of whom will appeal to the gods of war for resolution, and draw their swords.
Both parties will also draw upon the succor of the major global powers whose interests are intertwined with the outcome.
Of course, in such a scenario — from a purely military standpoint — Israel cannot prevail against the combined power of its adversarial neighbors.
Neither Israel’s seemingly powerful friends nor the Samson Option can alter that simple mathematical certainty.
