No More Easy Wars Left to Fight
The US is working hard to dissuade Israel from attempting to reduce Gaza to rubble and ashes via a ground invasion.
The #EmpireAtAllCosts cult would much prefer that the IDF serve as a proxy to attack and severely degrade Iran's surrogates in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
Having expended their #MotherOfAllProxyArmies in Ukraine without achieving the objective of weakening Russia, the Masters of Empire have lowered their sights and now aspire to expel Iranian power from the Levant.
Indeed, if Israel will provide the meat, the US promises to bring air and naval assets to the party.
Of course, with good reason, the Israelis are not super-duper enthusiastic about taking on Hezbollah and all those in the neighborhood eager to join the fray. The IDF has already lost more than a few Merkava tanks and several soldiers to ATGM ambushes over the past couple weeks.
Alas, 1967 was a long time ago.
Even 2006 was a long time ago. Since then, Hezbollah et al. have grown significantly stronger, even as the capability of the IDF to engage in high-intensity combat has eroded commensurately.
For the empire and its vassals, there are no more "easy" wars left to fight.
And if the US aims to drive the Iranians back east of the Tigris, they will have to shed a lot of exceptional American blood to do it.
Most concerningly, they will inevitably run into the Russians along the way.
